We live in the information age, brought about by the internet. Its interesting that the average reader of the New York Times ingests more information in one reading than someone like Martin Luther or John Calvin had access to in their whole lifetimes.
In recent times use of the internet has become prolific. According to www.pewinternet.org, over 90% of people who have internet access will send an email or search for information using a search engine. Of search engine searches, the most commonly searched for thing is sex, but the second most searched for thing is religion.
You see, the internet is about information; informing, teaching, learning, these are the things the internet excels at, and you can see how they relate to faith. The Christian message is about information and teaching people the truth, in order that they might believe and follow.
An online presence need not cost a fortune, only some time, some forethought, and a bit of effort, and it can be a very effective church tool.
