How can we make our site a success?
In doing some research I found these 7 criteria on the biz.org’s website. They apply to all websites, regardless of whether the service or content is spiritual in nature or not:
- It has to load fast.
- It needs to be search engine friendly: using flash, java, and image buttons make it impossible for search engines to index your content.
- It needs to be browser friendly. It should load in all browsers, and display the same.
- It should be accessible to all, for example, the font size should be changable for the visually impaired
- It should be functional. Not only for you, but for your users as well. If they cant navigate around it, they will go away, and if you cant update it, the site will go stale and die.
- Make sure your content is persuasive, motivating, truthful, sincere, grammatically and spelled correctly. Make sure it reflects who you really are, because people will know when they turn up on sunday that you misled them.
- Use your headlines and sections to grab attention. Make them count. Dont try and fit everything on one page. Edge from U2 talks about how notes are precious, and if you use too many you cant get them back. It is the same for words, dont use them all up, save them, use them carefully, make each one count.
